Ms. Shanana “Rain” Golden –Bear gives a Centennial Committee Report. “Rain” announces the Centennial Committee meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 10:00 am at the library.
Town Manager Alex Taft reports on the ongoing utility audit, special meeting of May 21, 2010 and grading of washes.
Council Member Lizarraga comments regarding the importance of the 2010 Census.
Chief Gilbert reports regarding a burglary at the Big Market grocery store, reminds everyone to be cautious and watch your properties. Chief asks that everyone remains orderly at tonight’s meeting.

Council Member Lizarraga motioned to approve the Consent Agenda, items 1 – 4. Motion seconded by Council Member Winslow. Council Member Lizarraga amends his motion to approve the Consent Agenda, items 1 – 4, excluding check number 30176. Amendment seconded by Council Member Kelley. 052510 – 5. Swearing in of newly elected officials.
Magistrate Terry Frausto swears in newly elected Mayor Ed Foster. Mayor Ed Foster takes his seat on the bench. Magistrate Terry Frausto swears in newly elected Council Members Lizarraga, Anderson, Lukkasson and Kelley. Council Members resume their seats on the bench.
COMMUNICATIONS/PETITIONS & CITIZEN COMMENTS: (call to the public)
Mr. Hal Davidson states he will be in Townhall tomorrow to pick up 4 recall packets.
Mr. Dean Taylor encourages Council to work with Mayor Foster, leave the past in the past and good luck.
Ms. Jennifer Harris gives congratulations to Mayor Foster and has a card she would like to give to him after the meeting.
Mr. Jerry Wilcox comments regarding Quartzsite resident and friend of many, Mr. Alvin Wayne Hess. Mr. Hess’ health is failing and he don’t have much time left. Mr. Wilcox states almost everyone knows Mr. Hess and would like to say a prayer for him and say goodbye.
Mr. Victor Lee comments regarding remember when the Town did not even have these facilities. The Town has grown to this point. Comments regarding the behavior of everyone at the meeting tonight. Mr. Lee comments regarding “fair play” and “majority rules”. Gives congratulations to Mayor Foster.
Mr. Ron Hoffard reminds Council that they swore to the same oath as the Mayor did, swore they would not rip the people off. Comments regarding recall.
Mr. Eric Saquoin comments about living in and loving Quartzsite. Would like to see the Mayor and Council serve their full term without a recall. Comments regarding moving forward for Quartzsite.
Mr. Norm Simpson gives congratulations to Mayor Foster and re-elected Council Members. Comments to Council that they have an opportunity to work with the new Mayor to make this a transparent operation.
Ms. Hijea Halfmoon comments regarding Police Chief Gilbert being attacked through all of this. Comments regarding Chief Gilbert being a positive role model for this community. Comments regarding loving our children and living for the future.
Mr. Richard Oldham gives congratulations to Mayor Foster, hopes everything calms down and let’s make this into a new day for Quartzsite.
Ms. Sabrina Rene comments regarding issues she is having with the local veterinary and getting care for her dog.
Town Attorney Walsma advises this is not an agenda item, the Mayor can place on the agenda for a future meeting or the Mayor can address it after the meeting.
Ms. Gleasa Lee gives congratulations to Mayor Foster. Comments regarding by taking away Mayor Foster’s rights, took away her right to vote.
Ms. Sally Cooper gives congratulation to Mayor Foster. Comments regarding the local veterinarian being a terrific veterinarian. Ms. Cooper also comments regarding her family line and gives some history regarding that issue. Also comments regarding the Council action tonight being a miscarriage of justice.
